Food for thought: In The Good and The Bad
Hello everyone, and welcome back. We apologize for the missed update last week, but we appreciate you coming back for the update this week as we continue to grow and study His word.
This week we are looking into seeking and praising God in the Good and Bad times of our life. How can we learn to trust and lean on God and give Him all the glory and praise no matter what circumstance in life may come? This is a question everyone deals with, especially when we are going through a particularly bad day, bad week, bad month, bad year or a seemingly bad life. It is so easy for us to focus on the bad in our life; our pain, our hurts, our sadness, our frustrations, our anger, and our troubles; and to think, through all of this, that we are alone in it. To think that we are fully isolated from God and our loved ones and that He does not hear us in our most troubling of times. We come to think, where is God when I need him?
On the opposite side, it is also easy for us to be caught up in our blessings, our successes, our Joy, our happiness, and our Love for one another that we forget to seek, thank and give praise to God who blesses us and keeps us. No matter the circumstance, God is with us. He is there in our good and bad times, but we are so fast to neglect Him during our good times and forget him until we come to cry out in desperation during our bad times. Can we truly call ourselves followers of Christ, or say that we are seeking God, when we only look to Him out of convenience?
God is not a God of convenience. He doesn't want to be there only when you feel you need him most. He doesn't want to be there only when you come to church for Christmas and Easter. He doesn't want to be there when you feel you are in your last moments of life. He wants to be with you every-single-day of the week, 365 days out of the year, every hour, every minute, and every second of your life. And He is there, always, waiting for us to seek Him out in our bad times and especially in our good times. However, it is up to us to seek and walk with Him daily to learn to lean on Him everyday, and allow Him to guide us through the fruitful and dry seasons of our life. When we learn that God is with us, not for our convenience, but for every little moment of our lives, we can learn to seek and praise Him in our good and bad times. Just some food for thought.....
We are grateful to have you with us as readers, church members, and interested guests and we are always open to any suggestions and volunteers for our website, newsletter, and future activities. Weekly Devotional:
Wait on the Lord for a while, for he has much to tell you. You are walking along the path He has chosen for you. It is both a privileged and a perilous way: experiencing His glorious Presence and heralding that reality to others. Sometimes you feel presumptuous to be carrying out such an assignment.
Do not worry about what other people think of you. The work the Lord is doing in you may seem hidden at first. But eventually blossoms will burst forth, and abundant fruit will be born. Stay on the path of Life with Him. Trust in God wholeheartedly, letting His spirit fill you with Joy and Peace.
"and he said: 'Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.'"
(1 Kings 8:23)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."
(Galatians 5:22-23)
Verse of the Week:
"The LORD says, 'I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you."
(Psalms 32:8)
