Volume 2022: Edition 3
Food for thought: The Importance of Testimony
Hello everyone, and welcome back to a new year with us. We are slowly getting back into the swing of things, so thank you for your continued patience. We appreciate you coming back for the update this week and month as we continue to grow and study His word.
Over the past three weeks in church, and two weeks on this newsletter, many of you have been witness to a number of testimonies. In today's newsletter, we are going to focus on the importance of testimony and the power it can have on one's life.
Testimony, by definition, is a formal written or spoken statement that gives evidence or proof to the existence or appearance of something through someone's personal experience. It is normally a personal truth given by someone who has encountered something, meant to bring light to something before a room of peers. In a court of law, before you can give your testimony, you are forced to give an oath that: "[You] swear by [the name of God or the Bible] that [you] will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth". This is because a testimony can have a powerful effect, particularly in the court of law, to account for a crime and bring the culprit of the crime to justice. It also has a powerful effect, church-wise, of bringing people from their own personal prisons to see the good that God brings into people's lives and the power He has over one's life.
When someone gives testimony in church or before a group of people, this is a testament to what God has done in someone's life. It serves as proof that it is God that performs the miracle, the healing, bestows the gifts, or does overall good in our lives. It is not for us to boast of ourselves, but to give praise to the power of God. To testify that what we experience is not of spontaneity or "luck" but is an active act of Grace and Mercy from God. This can bring encouragement and strengthen the faith of anyone that hears it, which is why it is important for us to speak the truth when we give testament, and why it is important for us to give testament when God does something in our lives.
We are meant to praise Him and share His word as children of God, not only to strengthen each other in fellowship but to bring others to Him. So, if God has done something in your life give praise to Him that He may continue to bless you and those that hear of what He has done for you. Just some food for thought...
"I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly, I will praise You."
(Psalm 22:22)
"Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul."
(Psalm 66:16)
"The life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ."
(1 John 1:2-3)
"And that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written:
“For this reason, I will confess to You among the Gentiles, And sing to Your name.”
(Romans 15:9)

Weekly Devotional:
Fix your eyes on the Lord
Keep your eyes on the Lord. Waves of adversity are washing over you, and you feel tempted to give up. As your circumstance consume more and more of your attention, you are losing sight of Him. Yet He is with you always, holding you by your right hand. He is fully aware of your situation, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear.
Your gravest danger is worrying about tomorrow. If you try to carry tomorrow's burdens today, you will stagger under the load and eventually fall flat. You must discipline yourself to live within the boundaries of today. It is in the present moment that the Lord walks close to you, helping you carry your burdens. Keep your focus on His presence in the present.

"Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand."
(Psalm 73:23)
"o temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
(1 Corinthians 10:13)
Verse of the Week:
"So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
