Food for thought: Seeing the Unseen
Hello everyone, and welcome back. Thank you for continuing to read our updates as we continue to grow and dive into his word.
This week we are looking into Seeing the Unseen. While God is all-seeing and all-knowing, we are unable to physically see God...or so some of us think. "Blind faith" is a phrase that is often used when someone has complete trust and is fully committed to someone or something without "hard" or even any kind of evidence to have such faith. The modern world considers faith to be blind, and that only the gullible and unintelligent would have faith in something without evidence. Therefore, is faith in God blind or are we blind to seeing God?
The apostle Philip even asked: "Show us the Father and that will be enough for us"(John 14:8). Philosophers, religionists, and thinkers have debated over the existence of God for millenniums' simply over the fact that God is "unseen". However, as the apostle Paul spoke of in Acts:17:27-28,"God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring". Paul was not saying that God is "unsee-able", but that if we want to see God and seek Him out, all we have to do is look around us. He is all around us. He created the universe, he created the solar system we live in, the planet we live on, the sky, the land, the mountains, the oceans, the seas, the rivers, the creatures, and all of us. He dwells within us always.
It is not that faith in God is blind, but that we are blind to seeing God in our lives, in the wonderful world he created, and the beautiful people around us whom he formed in the womb (Psalm 139:13). We blind ourselves, and like Philip, we ask to see God, but we do not truly see him because sin has blinded our eyes, dulled our hearing and made our heart unresponsive to God and his healing (John 12:40). Just some food for thought....

Weekly Devotional:
He Knows and Sees
Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, God sees you. When you're crying in the corner of your bedroom over the choices you or a loved one is making, He sees you. When you're standing before a large audience to give a presentation, He sees you. When you're driving down a dangerous road, He sees you.
"You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether."
(Psalm 139:2-4)
Not only does God see everything you do, but He knows everything about you as well. He knows your heartaches. He knows your apprehensions. He knows your fears and doubts. He even knows what you're going to say before you say it. Nothing gets past Him. Because He is fully aware of all things in your life at all times, He knows just what you need and when you need it. Because this is the love God has for all of his children and He will never leave you. Even if you feel like no one's watching and that no one cares, He is always there for you, waiting for you to look to him.
Verse of the Week:
"He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city."
(Proverbs 16:32)
