Food for thought: Be Consistent in Your Relationship with God

Hello everyone, and welcome back. Thank you for your patience these past months with the inconsistency of our posts.

To be completely honest, not to make an excuse for the multitude of missed newsletters, I have personally found difficulty in finding the confidence in my words to post this newsletter every week. In addition to this lack of confidence in my words, I have been struggling to make a routine for my daily life and to add this newsletter to that plan. This has been a very inconsistent and unprecedented season of my life, so thank you again for your patience this year with the newsletter and our website as I navigate through this season and learn to focus my eyes and my heart on God.

The thing about consistency is that it is an essential quality to have for our relationships with one another, the routines of our days, our careers, and most importantly: the relationship we have with God. And who better to learn this quality from, but God? God is the King of consistency. He is unchanging and constant in our lives. Hebrews 13:8, the structural verse for our congregation, states that: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." His laws, words, plans, and love for us are unchanging. There is no need to fear the unknown because He has planned everything ahead for us so that we can succeed (Jeremiah 29:11). He doesn't make mistakes and He will always be there and has always been there for us. He is the rock we can hold onto when everything is out of control.

"For I am the Lord, I do not change;

Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob"

(Malachi 3:6)

"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

(Psalm 18:2)

God does not expect this type of consistency from us because He knows we are imperfect. He only asks that we follow Him and seek Him out whole heartedly. That is all we need to do. We just need to be steadfast in our faith and hold true to his word. Just some food for thought...

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

(1 Corinthians 15:58)

Weekly Devotional: I am Taking Care of You

The Lord is taking care of you. Feel the warmth and security of being enveloped in His loving Presence. Every detail of your life is under His control. Moreover, everything fits into a pattern for good, to those who love Him and are called according to His design and purpose.

Because the world is in an abnormal, fallen condition, people tend to think that chance governs the universe. Events may seem to occur randomly, with little to no meaning. People who view the world this way have overlooked one basic fact: the limitations of human understanding. What you know of the world you inhabit is only the tip of the iceberg. Submerged beneath the surface of the visible world are mysteries too vast for you to comprehend. If you could only see how close the Lord is to you and how constantly He works on your behalf, you would never again doubt that He is wonderfully caring for you. This is why you must live by faith, not by sight, trusting in His mysterious, majestic Presence.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

(Romans 8:28)

"Then Job answered the Lord and said:

'I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know."

(Job 42:1-3)

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

(2 Corinthians 5:7)

Verse of the Week:

"“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

(Numbers 23:19)
