Volume 2021: Edition 1
An Introduction
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first of our online newsletters for the Berthoud Foursquare Church. Thank you for checking out our website, whether you found us through our Facebook page or a google search, we are grateful to have you with us and for our church members who continue to support one another in faith and life!
We are a small congregation striving to grow in Berthoud, Colorado under the Foursquare foundation, which reflects the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and our mission to declare it worldwide. The four squares of our logo represent the four scriptural roles of Jesus as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer and Soon-Coming King. We teach wholly from the bible (there is not a specific preference of translation) in both English and Spanish.
Our Lead Pastor, Esteban Salazar, also known as Pastor Steve, has served the church since 1989
and has been working with Co-Pastor Esteban Jr. Salazar (Co-Pastor Stevie), Treasurer Susan Salazar, Secretary Rachel Salazar, Sunday school teacher Brent Lambrecht, Worship Leader Brandy Salazar, and Media Manager Taylor Lambrecht to manage the church and our current online presence. We are always looking for more help for our church and are open for volunteers and suggestions.
This newsletter will serve to spread word of upcoming events, progress on current church projects notes from our pastors and teachers, special prayers, and weekly devotionals. It will also give verses and words of inspiration as each of us walk daily with Christ and grow in our faith. Our goal for this newsletter is to unite the church as one body in Christ and to spread the word of God to all who will read and listen, that they may come to understand and grow in his word.
We hope to see you at our Sunday services, and stay tuned for our coming newsletters' and updates at the church, at bible study, on Facebook, and on the website weekly!
Upcoming Events
Special Thank You
Thank you to all the pastors, teachers, and everyone who helped to organize, sing, run equipment, bring games, cook, cater, and participate in this past weekend's Foursquare Fellowship Event! Everyone had a blast at the fellowship event and it was a true joy to have the Foursquare churches of northern Colorado come together as one big church family. We couldn't have done it without our super stars!
Thank you to the Berthoud fire fighters for their work and help in emergency situations such as with the situation that occurred this past Saturday in our Church. God bless you all for responding so quickly to our emergency and staying to make sure our member was doing okay before leaving. Thank you for all that you do as first responders and may God continue to watch over all of you at work and at home.
We also want to thank the Berthoud community for their continued support of our burrito sales and the wonderful people we get to meet and speak with every other Saturday. Your support helps us to maintain our roof, clean our bell tower, fix our gutters, repaint, and re-plaster our interior, fix our plumbing, insulate our office, and make general repairs as the church needs it. It also helps us to buy supplies for our classes (bibles, paper, pens, study books), feed our guests and congregation during church events, and plan for church activities (conferences, retreats, concerts). Your support truly makes a difference, so thank you all.
Warm Welcome
We want to give a warm welcome and introduction to our two new church members Tom and Cathy Leston who joined our church last month. Thank you for your help in Sunday school and for your special message earlier this month. We look forward to getting to know the both of you and to grow together in faith. Welcome to the Berthoud foursquare church, and may God continue to bless you both.
Weekly Devotional:
You are a New Creation
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17
When we come to accept Jesus into our lives and begin our walk with Christ we are made into new creations. The old: our past, our sins, and our ways of life have passed away and the new has come. He opens the door to a new way of life for us, a new hope and joy in his name, and we are redeemed
" I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you." (Isaiah 44:22)
There are times where we forget we are made new and we forget the unending love and grace he gave us. We continue to live in the old ways of the world and we begin to dive back into our past and drown in our sins, past and present. However, he is always there with us, extending his compassion and salvation to us.
So how do we live as a new creation in Christ?
Read the verses below and spend time in discerning and understanding his words.
He called us since our creation to be his precious sons and daughters. He has healed us through his blood. He will bring us wisdom, understanding, and guidance through the holy spirit. We are no longer bound by the chains of sin. Our sin has been cast out and forgotten.
Ephesians 1:3-6 Romans 8:11-12 Isaiah 53:5 Romans 12:2
James 1:2-4 Romans 6:1-14 1 Peter 2:24 Hebrews 10:15-17
How do we remember to come back to Jesus when we feel we are drowning in sin?
Read the article linked below and spend time discerning and understanding the drowning of Jonah and how we, like Jonah, can be brought out from the belly of the whale in our own lives.
Verse of the Week:
"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." (Isaiah 58:11)
